Junkless Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 29, 2026

Summary

Junkless does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. Your email content, IMAP credentials, and all learned spam patterns stay on your Mac. There are no analytics, no trackers, no third-party services, and no cloud component.

This is the entire privacy policy in one paragraph. The rest of this page explains the same thing in more detail.

What we don't do

  • We do not collect personal information.
  • We do not read or transmit your email content to any server we control.
  • We do not use analytics SDKs, telemetry, or trackers.
  • We do not share data with third parties.
  • We do not use AI or cloud services to classify your email.

What Junkless does locally on your Mac

When you connect an IMAP account, Junkless:

  1. Encrypts your IMAP credentials locally in a protected file using OS-level encryption (Electron safeStorage). They never leave your device.
  2. Connects directly to your email provider's IMAP server (for example, Gmail, iCloud, Fastmail, or your custom domain) over TLS. This connection is between your Mac and your email provider only.
  3. Downloads message headers and bodies for filtering. Raw email bodies are not stored. Junkless keeps only derived filtering features (sender patterns, subject hashes, URL domains, etc.) in a local database.
  4. Stores learned spam patterns in a local database inside Junkless's protected app storage. This database stays on your Mac.

No data is sent to citrus-citron, the developer of Junkless, or to any third party.

Network connections

Junkless makes outbound network connections only to:

  1. Your IMAP servers, as configured by you. These are required for the app to function.
  2. Apple's Mac App Store, for purchase, download, and update management. This is handled by macOS and governed by Apple's privacy policy.

That is the complete list. Junkless does not connect to any other server.

Crash reports and analytics

Junkless does not include any crash reporting SDK or analytics SDK.

If you opt in to Apple's system-level "Share with App Developers" feature in macOS Settings, Apple may share anonymized crash data with us. This is governed by Apple's privacy policy. Junkless does not collect crash data through any other means.

Children's privacy

Junkless is not directed at children under 13. Because Junkless collects no personal data of any kind, no special children's protections apply at the data layer.

Your rights

Because Junkless collects no personal data, there is nothing for citrus-citron to access, export, correct, or delete on your behalf. All Junkless data — IMAP credentials, learned patterns, message metadata — lives on your Mac and is yours to delete by:

  • Removing IMAP accounts from within Junkless, then uninstalling the app
  • Manually removing Junkless's data folder from macOS storage if any local data remains after uninstalling

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page and post the new version at this URL. There is no in-app notification mechanism because the app does not connect to our servers.
